Paper Types
Xuan paper from Anhui is the standard for calligraphy and painting. Raw Xuan is absorbent for expressive brushwork. Processed Xuan is sized for controlled painting. Bark paper, cotton paper, Lianshi, and Maobian serve specific functions.
Study Utensils
Brush rests hold brushes when not in use. Brush washers clean brushes between colors. Paperweights hold paper steady. Arm rests support the brush hand. Water droppers add water to ink. Seal paste provides red ink for seals. Each object is crafted with attention to form and material.
